[origin: EP1437183A1] The device has an axle (13), which is connected to a holder by a securing unit (15). The axle is rotated about its centre axis and a mail container positioned in the holder has parallel side walls (17a), which adjoins other side walls at right angles. The axle is positioned at an oblique angle with respect to the side walls. The angle between the axle and the base of the mail container is between 10 and 45 degrees. An independent claim is also included for a mail-sorting installation for sorting items of mail provided with a device.
