The folding machine has a frame on which a roller (1) is mounted which carries circumferential straps. The positions of these are adjusted by a drive (26) consisting of a serrated sleeve (29, 31) formed by a non-circular section (28) of a central shaft (27). This engages with a hollow shaft (41, 42) surrounding it.
