[origin: EP1437478A2] The heat insulating extruded profile (1) has two metal profiled elements (2,3) which are separated from each other. They are joined together by heat insulating bridges (4,5) which have expanded edges (17) fitting into reentrant grooves in the frame members. Each frame member has a closed chamber (14,15), and a closed chamber is formed between the heat insulating bridges.
