Abstract (en)

[origin: EP1437501A1] The method involves measuring a time delay by a sensor (14) until rear lambdasond (17) senses the oxygen loaded or oxygen unloaded condition of a catalyst (16). Another delay is measured by the lambdasond until it senses the oxygen unloaded or loaded condition of the catalyst. The conditions and the time delays are compared and the difference is reported to an engine control unit (11) to verify the state of the lambdasond.
