Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1439270A2] To remove foul-smelling gases from drains and sewers, where the drain/sewage system has a number of access shafts open to the ambient atmosphere, the gases within the system are moved in flows. The separate gas flows are gathered together, and directed towards at least one selected shaft. Before the gas leaves the selected shaft, it is brought into contact with micro-organisms which break down the odor. The gas passage opening in each shaft cover plate (6) has a throttle valve, to control the gas exchange through it. The throttle valve is formed by a number of particles (16) within a holding net (15), in a holding trough (13) under a perforated plate (12).
