[origin: EP1439611A1] A connector (4) for a ribbon cable (1) includes a housing (10) having a ribbon cable receiving region (26) extending between a front surface and a back surface of the housing (10). A ribbon cable (1) disposed in the ribbon cable receiving region (26). The ribbon cable (1) has contact sections (30) arranged at the back surface of the housing (10). Retention clips (25) arranged on the back surface of the housing (10) that receive a portion of the ribbon cable (1). The retention clips (25) are arranged at a fixed spacing such that the contact sections (30) of the ribbon cable (1) are accessible between each of the retention clips (25) for receiving contact elements (19, 20, 21, 22). <IMAGE>
