[origin: WO03038273A1] The invention relates to a fuel injection valve (1) for directly injecting fuel into the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine. Said valve comprises a valve needle (4) which is arranged in a nozzle body (3), can be controlled by an actuator (7), and is acted upon by a return spring (9) in such a way that a valve closing body (5) - which is co-operatively connected to the valve needle (4) and faces the combustion chamber - rests against a valve seat surface (6) in a sealing manner, in the inoperative state of the actuator (7). A first spray cone angle alpha 1 is thus associated with a first lift state of the valve needle (4), and a second spray cone angle alpha 2 is associated with a second lift state of the valve needle (4).
