[origin: WO03038340A1] The invention relates to an electrically heatable glow plug (1) and a method for producing said electrically heatable glow plug (1), which allow protection of the glow plug filament (10) of the glow plug (1) from nitridation and aluminum evaporation from the heat conducting alloy. The glow plug (1) comprises an ignition tube (5), closed on the ends, into which the electroconductive glow plug filament (10) is introduced. Said glow plug filament (10) is at least partially composed of aluminum, especially of an aluminum/iron/chromium alloy. Inside the ignition tube (5), oxygen donors are disposed that form an aluminum oxide layer on the surface of the glow plug filament (10) before or while the glow plug filament (10) is heated.
