Abstract (en)

[origin: WO03041100A2] The invention relates to an electric switch (1), especially for a high load, such as a mains switch. Said switch (1) comprises a contact system (7) that consists of a movable switching contact (8) and at least one stationary contact (9). A movable actuation member (5) interacts, when displaced, with the switching contact (9), thereby switching the contact system (7). Optionally, the switch (1) can also be provided with a movable locking device that interacts with the actuation member (5) while interlocking with it. The actuation member (5) is functionally linked with a lever (10) in such a manner that the lever (10) undergoes a pivoting movement when the actuation member (5) is actuated. Said pivoting movement of the lever (10) displaces, especially while increasing the path covered by the actuation member (5), the switching contact (9) for the purpose of switching and/or the locking device for the purpose of locking.
