[origin: WO03038958A1] The invention relates to a connecting device (11) for ignition systems of internal combustion engines (12). The aim of the invention is to make sure that the connecting device (11) is failsafe also under unfavorable operating conditions. According to the invention, the connecting device (11), inter alia, comprises a first connection (13) for an ignition coil (14), a second connection (16) for a spark plug (17) and a protective cap (19) covering said connections (13, 16). The protective cap (19) has a two-layer design, comprising an inner jacket (23) made of an electrically insulating material, and an outer jacket (24) made of an electrically conductive material, connected to a ground potential, and resting directly on the inner jacket (23). Both jackets (23, 24) consist of a resilient material. The connecting device (11) is provided for use in the automotive industry.
