[origin: EP1441316A2] The monitoring device has at least one pivotable image-generating sensor for transmitting image data. The sensor is pivotable to enable continuous monitoring of a target region or area and a software-parameterised detection and control unit (1) is provided for following objects moving in the target region or target area.
