Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1443401A2] A method and apparatus for trace address compression compares respective sections of a current trace address (501) with a stored prior trace address (516). The comparison results for respective sections (511, 512, 513) supply a trace stream controller (503) which only transmits the least significant sections of the current trace address that do not match the prior trace address or are less significant than any section of the current trace address that does not match the prior trace address. This reduces the amount of data transmitted. The prior trace address (516) may be updated (515) with the current trace address (501) if there is a complete mismatch.
