[origin: EP1445224A1] The apparatus includes a drive motor (48) for ejecting a stack of printed products (12) from the upwardly open space of a compartment (10) in an ejection direction. The drive motor has a first drive for moving upstream guide elements (60) through the compartment space in the ejection direction, and a second drive for moving downstream guide elements (70) out of the compartment space. The compartment space is bounded by a compartment base (28). The upstream guide element is provided on the upstream side of the compartment space when viewed in the ejection direction. The downstream guide element is provided on the downstream side of the compartment space. The first and second drives are independently operable.
