[origin: EP1445227A1] A cross-wound bobbin rests on an upright spindle and surrenders its thread as this is drawn off horizontally to a textile machine. The thread discharges first horizontally to a pulley wheel (23) that is spring-mounted on a horizontal arm. The arm rises and falls to maintain horizontal discharge of the thread from the bobbin. The pulley wheel is maintained at all times below the highest point of the bobbin. Thread discharge speed variations are minimized by horizontal variation of the gap (a) between the pulley and bobbin axis (33). The pulley arm (24) end rises and falls (29) in a groove (31) under power.
