[origin: FR2832337A1] The invention concerns a hybrid welding device (1) comprising laser welding means (2) and electric arc welding means (4) with fusible electrode (6). The inventive device (1) is designed such that the fusible electrode (6) comprises a substantially rectangular cross-section. The invention also concerns a hybrid welding method designed to be implemented by said device. The invention is applicable to the automotive industry.
[origin: FR2832337A1] The hybrid equipment (1) includes a laser welder (2) and an electric arc welder (4). The laser welder may be either a Nd-YAG or carbon dioxide type, the former having a fibre optic (10) delivery giving a better flexibility and focussing on a pool of fused metal (12). The electric welder has a fusible electrode (6) with a rectangular cross section able to deliver metal in a ribbon (18) on to the pieces (3) for welding.
