[origin: EP1447327A2] To identify and/or monitor filled medical syringes (1), and cartridges, the syringe cylinders are labeled in advance with the product, charge, dosage, filling and use-by dates using machine-readable labels. For scanning, the syringe is aligned and rotated by a drive (3) at least once around its longitudinal axis, to be viewed by a video camera (2) as they pass by the monitoring station.
