[origin: WO03054379A1] The invention relates to a pump jet unit for the introduction of fuel (10) into the combustion chamber (12) of an internal combustion engine. According to the invention, a defined control of the injection process and the injection pressure is possible with a compact construction, whereby a pressure-limiting and -maintaining valve (34) is provided between a first pressure chamber (28), which may be filled with fuel (10) at a first pressure (p28) from a fuel pump (14-22) and a second pressure chamber (30). The fuel (10) at a second pressure (p30) in the second pressure chamber (30) exerts a closing force on the nozzle needle (26).
