[origin: EP1452640A2] In a papermaking process a suspension of fibres is discharged from a head-box through an elongated transverse jet slit which is sub-divided vertically into short (20) and long (18) compartments by lamella (20) of different length extending from a leading edge (22) to a trailing edge. The jet slit length (l) is the distance from the lamella anchorage point (22) to the trailing tip of the outermost panels (16). The longest lamella (18) terminate in an area about 90 to 120% of (l) and a short lamella (20) terminates in an area 40 to 90% of (l), as measured from the lamella anchorage point (22). The longer lamella (18) terminates in a sharp trailing edge.
