[origin: WO03053700A1] In a liquid ink image forming apparatus a liquid ink valve unit including a moveable elongated valve body is made to increase its maximum controllable frequency by creating a free movement of the valve body. This is attained according to the invention by counteracting undesirable pressure changes across the valve body, especially during movement of the valve body. In a preferred embodiment a liquid ink transport is created between a first cavity at a first end section of the valve body and a second cavity at the second end section of the valve body.
