Abstract (en)
[origin: WO03050395A1] The invention relates to a multi-piece valve (1) for internal combustion piston engines, wherein the valve head (3) is connected to the valve stem (2) in such a way that it is traction and pressure resistant. The valve head (3) has an annular bearing surface (5) for a stem-sided shoulder in the region of a continuous center opening (4). The center opening (4) is enlarged on the combustion chamber side (10) of the valve head. The head-side end (13) of the valve stem (2) is plastically enlarged in such a way that said enlargement (6) is filled in a positive fit. In order to increase the service life of the connection between the valve head (3) and the valve stem, the combustion chamber side enlargement (6) of the center opening (4) and the appropriately conformed end-side enlargement of the valve stem (2) are embodied in such a way that they are non-circular, thereby resulting in positive-fit torsional fixing between the valve stem (2) and the valve head (4).
