[origin: WO03053375A1] The invention relates to a method for modifying, particularly restructuring and finishing, keratin fibers by polymerizing suitable polymerizable substrates in the fiber by means of polyphenoloxidase. The invention also relates to a compound containing the substrates made polymerizable by means of polyphenoloxidase and at least one polyphenoloxidase, and the use thereof to positively influence fiber properties, particularly strength, porosity, elasticity, color preservation, and volume. The invention also relates to a fibrous keratin material with improved properties produced according to said method.
