Abstract (en)
The eyepiece protector (1) consists of a tubular ring (3) shaped to fit over a gun sight eyepiece and belt held in place by two preferably elastic bands (20), and a cover (5) that is connected to the ring by a hinge that allows it to drop open by gravity when the gun barrel is raised. The cover is made of metal, preferably glass, and its inner surface is shaped to engage with a shoulder (17) on the ring; it has a central translucent or transparent section (14), preferably of 3 mm glass.

L'invention concerne un dispositif (1) pour la protection d'une lunette de visée équipant un fusil, notamment de chasse, ce dispositif (1) comportant un embout tubulaire (3) s'étendant selon un axe et sur lequel est monté un couvercle (5) par l'intermédiaire de moyens d'articulation (6), ledit embout (3) étant destiné à être engagé par dessus l'extrémité de ladite lunette orientée en direction du débouché du canon du fusil. Ce dispositif se caractérise par le fait qu'il comporte des moyens agencés pour provoquer, de manière automatique et par gravité, un basculement dudit couvercle (5) par rapport audit embout (3) lorsque l'axe de ce dernier (3) vient à former un angle déterminé par rapport à la verticale, ceci lors d'une manoeuvre de basculement dudit dispositif (1). <IMAGE>
