Abstract (en)

[origin: WO03055830A1] This invention relates to a method for rapid chemical gassing of an emulsion explosive without having toxic nitrogen oxides in the finished emulsion explosive product, when nitrite is used as the gassing component. Urea acts as a gassing accelerator and urea are added in the water lubrication solution or in both the water lubrication solution and in the gassing component. To achieve rapid gassing of an emulsion explosive, the emulsion is prepared at a pH in the range of 0-3, by using an organic acid having at least 3 carbon atoms.
