Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1460610A2] LCD contains several flat LCD elements (1), each containing liquid crystal between two energising electrodes and located tangentially to display surface (sigma). Behind LCD elements, in view direction, is located illuminator (2), such as to illuminate all elements uniformly in view direction. Illuminator contains reflector (3) for uniform light reflection onto all elements, using suitable light source (4). Typically illuminator extends in display plane. Reflector may have sections of different reflection power and/or non-reflecting ones.
