[origin: EP1460648A2] The spray coating system covers an electrically conducting cable core with an insulating layer. The cable core (1) is drawn from a supply drum by a belt drive mechanism (12). The cable core is coated by passing through an induction heater (4), followed by an extrusion head (2) and a control module (9). The cable passes into a further induction heater section (6,7) and a telescopic sheath (3). There is a final induction heater (13) beyond the end of the sheath.
