[origin: WO03055373A1] The invention relates to a dishwasher comprising a pump for circulating liquid, an instantaneous water heater for heating the liquid and a spray device for applying the liquid to the articles to be cleaned by the selection of a washing cycle, using a control unit, in addition to a device for providing steam. According to the invention, the device for providing steam has a steam dispenser (7) and a unit (8, 9) for producing a jet of steam, supplied by the steam dispenser (7), which are installed in the dishwasher (1) in such a way that a predetermined section that is designed to receive specific articles to be cleaned is supplied with steam by means of the unit (8, 9) for producing a jet of steam in the washing compartment (2). The invention allows the unit that is designed to provide the steam comprising the separate steam dispenser and unit for producing a jet of steam to be advantageously arranged in such a way that always the same designated section in the washing compartment, which can be specifically identified and configured to receive the specific articles to be cleaned, e.g. particularly dirty articles, is supplied with steam by the steam dispenser. The invention also prevents a non-controlled escape of steam from any section of the entire washing compartment, thus improving the cleaning result with maximum usage of the steam, without also being dependent on the activation of a separate steam washing cycle.
