[origin: WO03055862A1] The invention relates to a method for the chromatographic isolation of ectoine from a mixture containing ectoine and hydroxyectoine. The method is characterised in that the isolation takes place using an ion exchanger column, whose diameter-to-height ratio is between 1: 8 and 1: 20. Said method permits an excellent isolation of ectoine, without the accumulation of undesirable impurities and with significant amounts of hydroxyectoine.
