Abstract (en)
[origin: WO03060310A1] The invention relates to a hot-air engine containing a cylinder (2) with a cylindrical chamber (6) for receiving a working medium, said chamber housing a working piston (4) and a displacement piston (5), which can be displaced in relation to one another. The displacement piston (5) subdivides the cylindrical chamber (6) into a first working chamber (14) that is delimited by the working piston (4) and a second working chamber (15) that is delimited by the cylinder cover (3). An organ of a heating device (31) for heating the working medium that is present in the first working chamber (14) is configured on the working piston (4). A cooling device (44) for cooling the working medium that is present (15) in the second working chamber is configured on the cylinder cover (3). The displacement piston (5) contains a regenerator (53), which interconnects the working chambers (14 and 15). This design permits an improved heat supply to the working medium, an improved heat transfer from the working medium, whilst allowing at the same time a simpler, more compact construction of the hot-air engine.
