[origin: WO03054385A1] The invention relates to a method for producing a facility for generating electric energy from water power and to a method for converting a dam according to which at least two turbine generator units (2) consisting of a turbine and of a generator connected thereto are manufactured at a remote manufacturing site. Also at a remote manufacturing site, at least two turbine generator units (2), together, are joined to at least one module (1) consisting of at least two turbine generator units (2). At least one module (1) is transported by a means of transportation, preferably a watercraft, from the manufacturing site over a distance to the installation site, and at the installation site, a lifting device (4) is used to lift the at least one module (1) from the means of transportation, whereupon it is placed in a position provided for the operation thereof. This combination of features results, while involving the concept of a highly modular design of the electromechanical units, in a technically and economically optimal solution that can compete with other sources of energy.
