[origin: EP1462587A1] Panel comprises a first side edge (4), an opposite-lying second side edge, a first contact surface (8), a groove (10), an upper lip (12), a lower lip (14), a first locating surface (16), a second locating surface (18), a second contact surface (22), a third contact surface, a tongue, a third locating surface, a fourth locating surface, and a fourth contact surface. The distal end of the lower lip has an upward protruding projection (34) defined on the side facing the groove base (20) by the second contact surface. A recess formed on the under side of the tongue between the fourth locating surface and the fourth contact surface has a shape essentially fitting the shape of the upper end of the projection. An independent claim is also included for a system consisting of a number of panel elements. Preferred Features: The recess and the protrusion are V-shaped.
