Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1462756A1] The double acting pyrotechnic actuator (1) incorporates two pyrotechnic charges (8a,8b) each connected to distinct chambers (4a,4b) separated by a piston (5). The actuator positioning method consists of successively controlling the two charges in sequence so as to ensure, by the action of the second charge, a braking of the piston displacement which was controlled by the first charge. The time gap between the initiation of each charge is chosen to ensure the desired positioning of the piston. Independent claims are included for a pyrotechnic actuator and a vehicle defense device implementing the method.
