Abstract (en)

[origin: WO03058148A1] The invention relates to a safety device for a handgun, whereby a component (3) is penetrated by a striking pin (15) which can be moved in relation to said component (3) in order to fire a cartridge. According to the invention, said handgun, preferably an semi-automatic pistol, is improved in that the component (3) comprises at least one push-button (37) which can be externally accessed and pressed and acts upon a switching body (33, 35) which can be rotated about the longitudinal axis of the striking pin (15) for the gradual rotation of the latter; the switching body (33, 35) comprises a noncircular borehole which is penetrated by the striking pin (15); and the striking pin (15) comprises at least one radial projection or at least one radial projecting part (27) which prevents the striking pin from rotating, the outer contour of said projecting part together with the outer contour of the striking pin (15) being complementary to the noncircular borehole in such a way that said part (27) can only fit into the noncircular borehole when the switching body (33, 35) is in a defined rotational position.
