[origin: EP1465236A2] The lamp has a quartz-glass discharge vessel (1) with an interior (10) enclosed by an ionizable filling. The vessel has a sealed-off end (11) and provided with a current feed through (2). The feed through is connected to an electrode (4). The electrode protrudes into the interior of the vessel and has a section (41) that extends into the sealed-off end. The section is provided with a ruthenium-containing coating (410).
