[origin: WO03060328A1] The invention relates to a pump comprising a pump housing (7), inside of which a pump chamber (5) is provided, into which an inlet (8) leads, and away from which an outlet (24) leads. An impeller (3) is mounted inside the pump chamber (5) and is joined to a drive shaft (2), which can be rotationally driven and which is rotatably mounted in bearings inside the pump housing (7). Surfaces of the pump chamber (5), which rest against surfaces of the impeller (3), and surfaces of the impeller (3), which rest against the surfaces of the pump chamber (5), have a smaller thickness and a greater hardness due to a coating that is applied by physical deposition from the gaseous phase.
