Abstract (en)
[origin: GB2384300A] A storage heater comprises a casing having a front panel, a core mounted within the casing and including heat storage means such as heat storage bricks and at least one heating element. An additional radiant heating element 1 is mounted within the casing and may provide supplementary radiant heat when the heat output from the core is insufficient. The radiant heating element 1 may comprise an electrically conductive wire 3 affixed in a meandering path to the inner surface 2 of the front panel. The storage heater may have a control means which includes a thermostat operative to switch the radiant heating element 1 on when the temperature of the front panel is below a pre-set value. The heater may have a heat reflecting material 4 mounted adjacent the inner surface of the radiant heating element whereby radiant heat is directed though the front panel.
