Abstract (en)
The safety line for a steeplejack has a cable (2) tensioned between two anchors (3,4) and the line is fixed at one end to a slide on the cable and at the other end to a safety harness for the user. The cable or line has a damper (7) with elastic springs acting against traction loads on the cable or line. Catches hold the springs in a deformed condition up to a predetermined effort, at which the springs can return to their initial condition.

La ligne de vie selon l'invention comprend un câble (2) tendu entre deux éléments d'ancrage (3, 4) fixés sur la toiture ainsi qu'un lien dont une extrémité coulisse sur le câble (2), tandis que l'autre est relié à un harnais (13). En série avec le câble est disposé un amortisseur (7) comprenant un ressort dont les déformations sont rendues rémanentes grâce à des moyens de rétention. Des moyens sont prévus pour ramener le ressort à sa position initiale après qu'il ait subi une déformation rémanente. <IMAGE>
