The method involves shaping a sheet metal band (7) with thickness varying along its length using roller shaping tools (3,5) to form a profile or pipe, calibrating the profile or pipe in at least one calibration pair of rollers to defined external dimensions and welding the abutting narrows sides of the band together to make a closed profile or pipe. An independent claim is also included for the following: (a) a roller shaping system.

Es wird ein Verfahren und eine Rollumformanlage zum Herstellen eines Metallprofils vorgeschlagen, wobei die Wanddicke des Metallprofils entlang seiner Längsachse variiert. Hierzu wird ein Blechband (7) mit entlang seiner Länge variierender Dicke verwendet. Vor dem Zusammenschweißen des durch Umformen hergestellten Profils oder Rohrs zu einem geschlossenen Profil oder Rohr (18) wird dieses auf einen gewünschten Außendurchmesser kalibriert (17,18) und hierdurch etwa bestehende Welligkeiten in den Bandkanten egalisiert, so dass ein einfaches, herkömmliches Längsverschweißen des Profils oder Rohrs möglich ist. <IMAGE>
