[origin: EP1466676A1] The method involves shaping a sheet metal band (7) with thickness varying along its length using roller shaping tools (3,5) to form a profile or pipe, calibrating the profile or pipe in at least one calibration pair of rollers to defined external dimensions and welding the abutting narrows sides of the band together to make a closed profile or pipe.
