Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1469205A2] The actuator for motor vehicle safety systems has a housing (5) in which a pyrotechnic (1) for driving a piston (2a) is positioned. The piston has a pin (2a) and is driven by the gas produced by the pyrotechnic for extending the pin outwardly of the housing. The housing has an open cylinder (3) on one end face. The first end face of the cylinder has the pyrotechnic and the opposite end face has the pin.
