[origin: WO03063621A1] In a method of ventilating an ash handling system comprising an ash receiving channel (11), an ash receptacle (12) and a valve mechanism (13) between the channel and the ash receptacle, air is withdrawn from the ash receiving channel so as to create a flow of fresh air into the ash receiving channel preventing odours from the ash receptacle and/or the ash receiving channel from escaping to the environment. In a ventilation arrangement for the ash handling system, at least one air withdrawal channel (33, 41) is provided communicating with the ash receiving channel (11, 15) and with air treatment equipment.
