[origin: WO03064736A2] The invention relates to a method for cooling down melt-spun filaments and to a device for melt-spinning a plurality of continuous filaments. According to the inventive method, the filaments melt-spun by means of a spinning device are cooled down in a cooling device by means of conditioned cool air. In order to condition the cool air, the wet steam required is generated by a plurality of steam generators that are linked in parallel with the coolant source. The number of steam generators can thus be adapted to the required amount of steam in such a manner that at least one of the steam generators can be switched off for maintenance.
