Abstract (en)
[origin: WO03064976A2] The attitude indicator comprises a display device (11) with a screen (110), generating a three-dimensional silhouette of an aircraft (3) on the background of a screen (4,5) which is divided up into two areas a lower area (4) symbolizing the ground and an upper area (5) symbolizing the sky which are separated by a sky line which is displaceable heightwise on the screen while remaining horizontal. Said silhouette is moveable according to three axes of rotation and, when seen from the rear, moveable according to attitude angles corresponding to the measurements of the attitude angles which are received by the cabin instrumentation and which are referenced in relation to a referential aircraft having a roll axis which is perpendicular to the surface of the screen and pitch and normal axes on the plane of the screen, one pitch axis being horizontal and the other being a vertical normal axis. One advantage of the invention is that the crew is provided with a tangible view of the attitude of the aircraft, thereby making piloting more natural and more intuitive, whereupon safety is increased.
