Abstract (en)
[origin: EP1470933A2] A varnish containing radically- and/or ionically-polymerisable substances is used in a transfer process for coating sheet materials (film, panels etc.) with a protective layer, by hardening the varnish on the transfer film by radical and/or ionic polymerisation, combining the varnish side of the film with the sheet material and then removing the carrier film. A method for the production of sheet materials (e.g. film, panels etc.) with a varnish-containing protective layer obtained by coating a carrier material with varnish, hardening the varnish, combining the varnished side of the coated carrier with the sheet material and then removing the carrier. This involves using a varnish containing radically- and/or ionically-polymerisable substances, which is at least partly hardened on the carrier by radical and/or ionic polymerisation. An independent claim is also included for transfer film comprising a carrier material coated with polymerisable varnish as above.
