Abstract (en)
[origin: WO03066088A2] The invention relates to a novel use of certain proteases in treatment relating to the healing of wounds, especially the use thereof in fibrinolysis, collagenolysis and plasminogen activation. The invention also relates to screening methods for providing proteases suitable for the above-mentioned uses. The invention further relates to the use of proteases thus obtained, for producing a pharmaceutical composition for using in the healing of wounds, for the prophylaxis and/or treatment of myocardial infarction, thrombosis, venous thromboses, restenosis, hypoxia, ischaemia, coagulation necrosis, inflammation of the blood vessels, acute pulmonary embolism, acute and subacute arterial thromboses, fresh or old clots relating to venous thromboses, deep venous thromboses of the pelvis and the extremities, early thromboses in the region of desobliterated vessels, acute central vessel occlusion in the eye, burns and frostbite, disseminated intravesal coagulation caused by shock, acute arterial occlusion of the extremities, chronic occlusive arteriopathy, and thrombosis of arteriovenous shunts, and for treatment following a myocardial infarction, following a bypass operation, and following ballooning, for thrombolytic treatment of acute myocardial infarction, for the recanalisation of arteriovenous shunts, for the reperfusion of occluded coronary arteries relating to acute myocardial infarction, and following angioplasty with or without stent insertion.
