[origin: WO03068398A1] The sample preparation device is particularly suited for stool samples to be analysed enzymatically and immuno-chemically, e.g. according to the ELISA solid phase technique and/or lateral flow system, or to be analysed microbiologically. The inventive device comprises a closeable vessel (3) for receiving a liquid reagent and/or liquid solvent and a sample collection rod (13) which has at least one scoop-type recess (15) located on a peripheral surface of one of the ends thereof and which can be inserted with said end into the vessel (3) via an insertion opening (22) of the vessel (3) provided with a scraper shoulder (23). The vessel has an integrally formed sealing part (7) which can be separated at a predetermined breaking point (9) and which seals an open outlet (5) of the vessel (3) when the sealing part (7) is separated. A predetermined amount of liquid can be directly drained off from the sample preparation device by manually squeezing the vessel (3) or by displacing a piston-type component (19, 21).
