[origin: EP1475186A1] Process for cylindrical grinding of a workpiece (118) comprises pressing an auxiliary abrasive tool (154) rotating about an auxiliary tool axis (153) and having a flat abrasive surface arranged perpendicularly to the auxiliary tool axis against the workpiece during grinding so that the abrasive surface is arranged in a tangential plane to a second workpiece surface (113). The second workpiece surface lies in contact with a contact line (109). The abrasive surface protrudes over the transition edge (119) in the direction of the contact line of the second workpiece surface. An independent claim is also included for a device used for carrying out the above process.
