[origin: EP1475493A2] The device for the height adjustment of a platform (10) has a telescopically extendable pillar (30) as a support and/or guide pillar and which has a locking device for locking in an extended position. A drive (40) and especially an electric drive at least partially provides the lifting force for the extension of the pillar. The drive may transmit the force via thrust chains (43), hydraulics, pneumatics or airbag. A force transmission device may be provided for manual operation.
