[origin: WO03070476A1] The invention relates to a method and device for imprinting a base material (24) according to which the surface of a printing carrier (10) has a multitude of recesses (14). The surface of the printing carrier (10) is provided with a liquid coating. During structuring, the liquid in the recesses (14) is vaporized in ink-attracting areas. Once ink has been applied to the ink-attracting areas, the ink is transferred to the base material. Without additionally cleaning the printing carrier, a liquid coating is applied once again thereto after which structuring occurs.
