[origin: WO03069224A1] Infra-red emitters embodied as a planar emitter with an emitting body (15) are known. Said body is heated on the rear face thereof by means of a burning liquid/air mixture and the front face thereof emits the infra-red radiation. According to the invention, the emitting body (15) is made from a heat-resistant material comprising more than 50 wt. % of a metal silicide, preferably molybdenum silicide (MoSi2) or tungsten silicide (WSi2).
