[origin: WO03070461A1] Disclosed is a method and a device for producing a print format on a print carrier material (40), wherein a hydrophilic layer (52) having a molecular thickness is produced on the surface of a print carrier (10) used for printing. Hydrophilic areas (68) and hydrophobic areas (64) are produced in a structuring process according to the structure of the format to be printed. A moisturising agent layer (54) is then applied to the surface of the print carrier (10), wherein a moisturising agent film (54) is exclusively formed on the hydrophilic areas (68), whereupon ink attracting areas and ink repellent areas are created according to the structuring thus carried out. Ink is applied to the surface, adhering to the ink-attracting areas (64) while not being absorbed by the ink repellent areas (68).
